Our Philosophy
At Knox Childcare and Kindergarten we aim to provide a safe, warm, secure environment for your child. Our staff aim to create a ‘homely’ centre where all children feel welcome and are able to express themselves in a positive and productive way.
Using positive guidance, children are able to develop a positive self-esteem. Our diverse program uses observations and evaluations, and encompasses all areas of development – language, cognitive, social and emotional, fine motor and gross motor skills – and is based on the individual child and their interests. These programs are driven by the interests of the children and supported by the Early Years Learning Frameworks.
Staff are an integral part of our centre and are encouraged to continue their professional development to enhance the program. Children are provided with opportunities to experience both indoor and outdoor activities and rest times are provided throughout the day. We respect all children and their families and welcome parent involvement in decision making in the form of advice, suggestions and time spent with the children at the centre. Knox Childcare and Kindergarten values each of our families. Our educational framework is based upon the belief that, through play and children’s natural curiosity to explore and experiment, skills are achieved at individual levels.
Every child at Knox Childcare and Kindergarten is encouraged to reach their full potential and all children come with their own strengths, which they can share and develop. We encourage the children to explore their strengths and therefore gain confidence. The ability to construct and direct their learning with our early childhood qualified professionals provides a dynamic culture and environment that is a natural extension to their home environment. Every member of the Knox Childcare and Kindergarten’s team respects that every child needs nurturing relationships with their parents.
Our centre reflects the needs of our local community and the families who rely on the service provided. We will have autonomy, within professional guidelines, to devise and offer individuality within our programs, to meet local community needs.
Activities and Programs
Explore a holistic approach to child development with our program, targeting 8 key areas. Each element is designed to foster physical, cognitive, and social growth in a fun and engaging manner.
Nutrition and menu
Establishing healthy eating habits from an early age lays the foundation for lifelong health and wellbeing. Children enjoy a nutritious breakfast, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea, all prepared daily at our early education centre.
Meals are fresh, colorful and tasty enough to tempt even the fussiest of eaters, all while meeting Australian Dietary Guidelines and recommended requirements.
You can rest easy knowing your child’s nutrition needs are met at the centre while being exposed to a variety of delicious tastes and interesting textures, which helps significantly in nurturing healthy eating habits.
our menus
We enforce a strict no nut policy and have a separate management plan for children with special dietary requirements. We also actively adhere to medical needs of children with allergies diagnosed by a medical practitioner. When at our early education centre, be sure to ask the team what is on the menu that week or check the kitchen door where the menu is displayed.
our food philosophy
Our focus is on providing children with simple, nutrient-rich, unprocessed and seasonal whole foods. There is a focus on balancing the types of foods eaten throughout the week, promoting healthy eating through novel ways of presentation and colours.
Our menus meet nutritional guidelines and are high-quality, allowing young bodies to thrive both mentally and physically.
Our philosophy includes learning about healthy lifestyles and cooking. We believe this is integral to children’s wellbeing and self-confidence, which in turn contributes to their ability to concentrate and learn.
Our centre provides many opportunities for children to experience a range of healthy foods, including DIY menu options that allow them to create their own dishes – allowing for growing independence and satisfaction in being able to do things for themselves.
